Acre's walled Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a dense maze of Ottoman-era stone buildings on the peninsula, with guest rooms and small guesthouses among the family homes. The newer city spreads north and east of the walls, with apartment buildings and private houses, and the sea is close to both.
